Mahindra XEV 9E: Earnestly entering the ‘electric future’, is the Mahindra XEV 9E, an all electric SUV concept, made by Mahindra under its electric sub-brand.
With the electric vehicle space surging ahead in India, the XEV 9E is expected to be a contemporary, tech-first urban SUV designed for urban practicality, smart connectivity and sustainable performance.
An urban dynamo for progressive professionals and families, the Mahindra XEV 9E melds state-of-the-art style, technology and eco-friendly drive.
While it’s still waiting on full production details, early reveals hint it could be one to watch in India’s fast growing Electric SUV market.

The Mahindra XEV 9E is instantly recognisable with its bold exterior styling. It looks like an all-new design, unlike the blocky, chiseled profile of the vehicles it follows — and that’s because, of course, the Model X doesn’t have a big internal combustion engine under the curled hood.
The front end sports a trendy, closed grille look and full-width LED DRLs with a modern touch to it. The car gets flush door handles, edgy character lines and a very chiseled body and so it comes off very dynamic.
With sporty inclined roof line and large alloys, plus a bold rear LED light bar and illuminated Mahindra logo, it feels premium to look at with plenty of presence.
The SUV’s engineering and design is a manifestation of the brand’s developing perspective: modern, eco-friendly, and smart.
Technology Driven And A Roomy Interior
The interior of the XEV 9E will be tech-focused and will be minimalist but with a sense of luxury. The dual-screen layout should feature on the dashboard, one screen for the infotainment system and the other for the digital instrument cluster.
Mahindra has been going big on connected features, and the XEV 9E is no different.
Look for ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), AI voice assistant and integrated navigation with live traffic information.
OK all-wheel drive for snowbelt duty, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, a premium audio system and a panoramic sunroof also are expected.
The cabin is made with space in mind, and it provides ample space for both front and rear-seat passengers.
Additional details including vegan leather, soft-touch panels and recycled trims underscore its sustainability.
Performance and Battery Life
Although Mahindra has so far refused to reveal precise defails, the XEV 9E is expected to be powered by a high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack that’ll be complemented by either a single or dual electric motor configuration.
The car will have a range of approximately 450 to 500 km on a single charge, which would be at par with global EVs.
It is expected to get fast charging and AC home charging, which should bring much needed flexibility for city and semi-urban users.
It’s performance will probably be sneaky-quick and torquey, as electric powertrains tend to be, and features like ECO, City, and Sport drive modes will let you eek out the most range or performance for your situation.
Safety and Build Quality
Safety has become a priority for Mahindra and the XEV 9E will be no different. It’s expected to feature:
Six airbags
360-degree camera
ESP: (Electronic Stability Program)
Traction control
Hill-start assist and hill-descent control …
ABS with EBD
Given the respective pedigree of Mahindra for building tough and burly vehicles, the XEV 9E will likely be a strong structure vehicle with excellent (NCAP bearing) manners.
