Honda Amaze Facelift: The Honda Amaze has been recognition for being known as a compact sedan which offers practicality, comfort and reliability.
The latest facelift has brought an air of modernity to bestselling Honda and it’s easy to see the appeal.
Aimed at buyers wanting a sedan which is easy on the pocket yet high on aspirational value (read: the cab hirers), the Amaze facelift comes with about the expected visual upgrade along with some cabin improvement and features which makes it an even more complete offering than before.
This 2019 version may not seem terribly different from its predecessor, but it cleans up what was already working just fine.
Modern and Unobtrusive Looking Design
The refreshed Amaze comes with small yet noticeable design tweaks that spruce up its look.
Up front, it gets a new chrome-heavy grille design with sharper LED projector headlamps and an updated bumper that gives it a more grown up look.
The LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) are said to be more slimmer-looking while the front fog lamp housings now feature a new design that gives the bumper a cleaner look.
From the profile, it looks the same except for the new dual-tone alloy wheels and hints of chrome that make it look a little more attractive.
Towards the back, new LED elements for the tail lamps and a new bumper finish the cosmetic updates.
These are small updates, but they lend the Amaze a higher-end vibe without losing its compact sedan nature.
Comfort and Utility inside
The interiors of the Amaze facelift continue to be simple and neat, but gets better materials and superior quality of upholstery.
The two-toned dash makes things feel light and open, and the interior is one of largest in its class.
There’s plenty of room in the rear seats in terms of leg- and headroom, meaning it’s possible to endure long trips with adult passengers in the back.
The car seats now have new fabric and cushioning with improved support.
It has also introduced a new updated touchscreen infotainment system on top trims with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The instrument cluster is a semi-digital unit that’s easy to read, and the visibility from the driver’s seat is great.
The storage is well considered as well, with plentiful cup holders, bottle holders and a generously-sized boot (with 420 litres of cargo capacity) perfectly suitable for a weekend away or a trip to the grocery store.
Performance and Ride Quality
The Amaze facelift gets the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol motor that is available with a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. Performance is modest, but the engine is smooth, refined and well-suited for city commuting and an occasional highway cruise.
Processed with VSCO with u6 preset The CVT version is perfect for hassle-free city traffic and the manual one comes with a light clutch and slick gears.
The suspension is tuned for comfort, and it’s good at soaking up bumps and potholes.
Ride character is well-sorted, and overly light steering makes the SUV easy to maneuver in close quarters.
The diesel has been dropped from many markets, as Honda repositions its hand with respect to the prospect of the BP18 – it only offers the petrol in the short-term.
Safety and Features
In terms of safety, the Amaze facelift gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts as standard.
The top end trims get reverse parking camera, day/night IRVM and engine mobilizer.

Honda Amaze Facelift:Verdict
Honda Amaze Facelift does well to capitalise on its strengths instead of wanting to be all new.
And it still weighs in as a solid compact sedan option, with comfort, fuel economy and brand trust on its side.
No, it may not have any flashy features or over the top aesthetic, but this is a sturdy enough and sufficiently refined experience that is suited to be first-time buyers’ or small families’ favourite.
The facelifted Amaze remains a rational choice for those who prefer an equally competent all-rounder that you can rely on for the long run.
