Tata Nexon: The Tata Nexon has become one of the best-selling compact SUVs in India couple of years after its launch offering a good combination of safety, stylish look and practicality.
The Nexon was first introduced in 2017 and was subsequently updated with a few improvements and changes, to keep up with the customer preferences.
Better equipped, quicker and safer its ever been, the latest version of it is one of the best in the segment for both city habits and long drives.
Design And Highway Appeal- Catchy And Road Ambience
The exterior design is one of the biggest features of the Nexon. It has a mean look with its tall ground clearance, large grille and LED eye-shaped headlamps.
The coupe like roofline brings a sporty touch to the overall look of the car.
The Nexon appears up-to-date as well as a departure from the ordinary, with its sculpted body panels and neatly integrated DRLs that do not scream for attention.
The new avatars are also complemented by a sensual body lines, with dual-tone paint, stunning alloys, gorgeous tail lamps that simply makes the Scorpio ‘Urban Cool’ yet not distancing it from the typical SUV appeal.
Cabin Comfort and Tech Aplenty
On the inside, the Tata Nexon still manages to make it to the mid of my comparisons, thanks to its premium and practical cabin.
A thoughtfully designed dashboard includes a floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Another welcome addition are the digital instruments, automatic climate control, wireless charging pad (though only on higher Tigor trims) and the cooled glovebox.
Passenger comfort is achieved thanks to the seating being supportive and comfy with plenty of cushioning and decent head and legroom at the front and rear.
It has a very roomy boot that’s perfect for day-to-day use and weekend getaways.
Soundproofing is good, and the speakers from Harman contribute to the in-car entertainment.
Engine choices and the driving experience
The Nexon comes with petrol and diesel options. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine is good enough and produces somewhere close to 118 PS< which is good enough for zippy city driving.
On the downside, the 1.5-litre diesel is torquey and efficient and a good option for the highways and long run drives.
Transmission choice include a 6-speed manual, AMT (automated manual transmission) and 7-speed DCT (only select petrol variants).
The AMT is just about good enough for easy driving, but the DCT does deliver a crisper, faster-shifting action if you are performance-oriented.
The ride quality would come across as confident over the bad roads and potholes, as the suspension setup does very well here.
It is easy to steer at low speeds, making navigating through city traffic a breeze, and that heaviness returns as speeds rise.
Protection – A class of its own
Tata Nexon has scored a 5-star safety rating among all the crash tests and it is one of the safest cars in its category.
It also has six airbags, electronic stability control, (hill-hold assist) as well as traction control and parking sensors with camera, suitable for children (ISOFIX child seat mounts).
It is a well constructed piece and the frame has been designed to take an impact well which is what every parent wants when out and about with the family.

The Tata Nexon is perfect equilibrium of safety, design, features and performance. It’s the ideal vehicle for first-time car buyers and for experienced drivers seeking a dependable and fashionable compact SUV.
It might have have some slight negatives concerning rear seat space or gearbox shake in base versions, but the positives are still enough to weigh it out.
